Frequently Asked Questions

How should I frame or display it?
  • Posters. If you plan to frame your poster, go with the unlaminated. This one is beautiful framed, although it doesn't have to be framed. Either poster can be displayed in a number of simple, cost-effective ways, from double-sided tape to velcro strips to clips. One nice option is to use poster hangers, such as these ones for the 39" Medium poster, or x2 of these ones for the 50" Large (we haven't found a full 50" hanger, but x2 25" hangers like these are a perfect fit). And I found a handy guide to hanging posters that you might enjoy.
  • Giclées/Limited Editions. We recommend considering perspex/acrylic instead of glass for the limited editions - especially the largest (66 x 35"). It's more lightweight and safer. Mattboard/mountboard is not required at all – there is ample white border. Just a spacer to keep the glass off the artwork.
What about the taxes and duties to some countries?

All maps are shipped from Australia, and international orders (excluding the USA and New Zealand) may be subject to duties or taxes upon arrival in your country. These are paid online or upon delivery, and you'll be kept well-informed. Each country has different rules but some charge duties, GST or VAT on goods purchased online. It's advisable you check on your local import duties to know more. In the EU for example, it will include your local VAT rate.

In the future, we hope to have a better-integrated system for our biggest markets such as the EU, but this is the only way for the maps to reach these regions for now. If this extra cost is prohibitive, please email welcome@antonthomasart.com and we can explore some other options. More details about this can be found on our Shipping and taxes page.

Posters: Laminated vs Unlaminated, Medium vs Large

Much thought was put into sizing the Wild World prints. We wanted the details nice & clear, while offering options that weren't too big. We settled on the Medium (39") and Large (50") sizes. In both cases the details are clear – but the Large has a more epic, expansive feel. It's our personal opinion that the Large 50" posters offer the grander Wild World experience, but the Medium 39" posters are still beautiful – and good if you need to fit the map into a smaller space. We know you'll be happy either way!

If you wish to frame your map, choose an un-laminated poster. There's no point framing the laminated maps - they're very durable, and are matte-laminated in an elegant, non-glossy finish. This durability makes them great for kids. The un-laminated posters don't have to be framed either, but we do recommend handling them with care

What is the difference between a poster and a limited edition giclée print?

The limited editions are giclée printed, which is a fine-art quality print. The colours are extremely rich, with archival pigment inks. The paper is a heavy 300gsm natural cotton rag. These are exceptionally high-quality prints with amazing resolution, and textures that almost look like an original. They do come with a high production cost, so we are running limited numbers to increase their value to the customer. All are hand-signed and uniquely numbered by Anton Thomas.

The posters are still a high-quality inkjet print. While they aren't archival quality, their colours should still hold for years (we're aware there have been some issues with fading with previous posters, so we've gone with a very different method this time). They are on a more lightweight paper (180gsm), more appropriate to posters and to lamination.

In all cases, the maps are sized such that the details are clear and crisp and easy to enjoy.
