Frequently Asked Questions

Taxes and Duties
All orders ship from Australia. Some international orders may be subject to your local VAT or import tax upon arrival (this does not apply to the USA, NZ, and usually the UK). These are paid online or upon delivery, and you'll be kept well-informed.
It's advisable you check on your local import duties to know more, but here is a little information about the countries we ship to the most:
- United States. Maps are exempt from the new global tariffs announced in 2025. Your map will arrive at your shipping address without incurring any extra costs, and all US orders are shipped via UPS.
- Canada. Canada has a VAT tax (known as GST, PST or HST depending on the province or territory), which is charged as an import duty upon arrival. These rates vary depending on province/territory.
- New Zealand. Import duties are almost never applied to our products, though occasionally there may be a small duty charged on orders exceeding $400 NZD in value.
- UK. Most products will not incur an extra import duty, unless they are delivered to a business address. Please try to use residential addresses to avoid this.
- Europe. The EU charges VAT on international purchases, and the charge will be incurred as an import duty upon arrival. VAT rates vary by country.
- Worldwide. Every country has different rules and thresholds, and for further information it's advisable you check your local import duties and taxes. What is owing is generally little more than your local value-added-tax (VAT, GST etc).
Displaying, Mounting, Framing
If you’re framing a map, we recommend considering perspex/acrylic instead of glass for the largest prints (e.g the Wild World limited editions). This is generally lighter, safer, and more suitable for oversized frames. A mat board is not essential – all prints include a generous white border for framing.
The laminated posters do not require framing. There are plenty of simple, cost-effective ways to hang them without a frame:
- Magnetic poster hangers – our favourite option. For example, these on Amazon. For Wild World posters we recommend the 55” option for the Large (50") print, or 39” and 30” options for the Medium and Small sizes respectively.
- Binder clips with nails, hooks, or pushpins.
- Thumb tacks or pushpins.
When your map arrives, we suggest allowing it a few days to naturally flatten out after unrolling. If you have any questions about display and framing, please email us at welcome@antonthomasart.com
Posters: Choosing Un-laminated vs. Laminated
All posters are available un-laminated or laminated.
- Un-laminated: ideal for framing.
- Laminated: ideal if you don't plan to frame it. Laminates are highly durable (perfect for kids!), with a beautiful matte finish — no gloss or reflection. For more info about mounting/display, see the question below.
Difference between Limited Edition Prints and Posters
Limited editions are fine art-quality giclée prints. They’re printed with rich archival pigment inks on heavy 300gsm natural cotton rag — a beautiful paper with subtle texture and incredible detail. Each edition is produced in limited quantities to enhance its value and rarity. Every print is hand-signed and uniquely numbered by the artist, and comes with a matching Certificate of Authenticity. Once an edition sells out, prints of that size cannot be reproduced again.
Posters are high-quality inkjet prints on a more lightweight 180gsm paper, making them more affordable and appropriate for laminating. They’re also printed with archival inks, ensuring their colours won’t fade.
No matter which version you choose, all maps are thoughtfully sized for clarity and detail, ensuring a beautiful viewing experience at every level.
